“Built by Maykus, Built for You”
Maykus wanted to connect with their various audience demographics and use the website to showcase families across many different life stages utilizing Maykus Homes. To accomplish this goal, we relied on all means available to us, including the initial website design, content creation, SEO keyword research, and media creation.
The User Experience
The website showcases the development of a multitude of neighborhoods across seven different towns in Dallas and the surrounding area; which made for a fairly complex sitemap. To create a positive user experience, we added the different neighborhood pages to the main navigation, along with an interactive map which outlines each are of service. We also created submenu pages for each town, including a section displaying the available homes through filtering tabs, the in-construction neighborhoods, and a slideshow gallery showing Maykus’ previous work.
The Website Design
While the former website was using different shades of blue on a light-themed wireframe, not having rigid coloring standards to adhere to, we decided to leave that out and emulate, instead, a monochrome layout, just like the pre-existing logo, utilizing only a dark shade of gray along with the white. This allows the pictures to be the real protagonists of the layout. The sections are functional and schematic, but they all include elements of captivating dissonance, such as images and slideshows that break through their margins, as well as the scrolling and hovering effects used for the paragraphs, buttons, and the media links displayed.
Video Production and Photography
JSL worked on five different photo and video shoots – two were city-based (Grapevine and Southlake), and three were focused on different families residing within various homes built by Maykus. The goal was to showcase families in different stages of life and how Maykus Homes truly connects with their customers, building homes that suits each of their individual needs.
