The Starting Point

The design phase began when we managed to pinpoint some commonalities between the designs the client expressed visual interest towards.
The layout was simple and straightforward, but the aesthetic choices made were in need of an update that would be more in line with current design trends. Additionally, the functionality of the site was greatly affected by the fact that the site was not responsive, especially on smaller screens. Lastly, the content of the site was lacking relevant SEO keywords, which in turn was hurting their online visibility and search engine rankings.

The Design Process

When it came to the aesthetic direction of the website, the client had a clear vision of what they were looking for. While their stylistic preferences were more traditional than what our designer originally envisioned, our teams found that, through fruitful collaboration and open communication, we were able to land on the right compromise to meet the client’s requests as well as complying with modern design standards. This was achieved by conferring a clean and minimalistic structure to a mainly black and white site, with the blue and yellow tints of the logo being utilized throughout the pages as accent colors. The desktop version was built around the notion that the website needed to be perfectly accessible on mobile devices as well, which led us to implement creative features such as the pop-up windows in the Menus page.
