The Goal

Dallas Truck Parking’s online presence was nonexistent and for the manner in which the business operates, this issue needed to be promptly resolved. The company had a logo but lacked established brand standards. For this reason, the client neither had a clear idea of what colors they wanted to use, nor were they set on any particular design direction for their new website. Additionally, due to the nature of their business, the website needed to include some very specific and complex development features that would allow their users, through a personal platform, to check on parking lot availability, along with providing them the option to place, edit, or cancel their reservation. JSL needed to create an innovative site that would appeal to their target audience while adhering to modern aesthetic standards and successfully integrating complex development features.

The Process

While we know that appearance plays a vital role in drawing new audiences’ attention, we also acknowledged that the demographic we were targeting might find a website more appealing if it was built with directness and simplicity. For this reason, most websites from businesses with an analogous audience adopted a more traditional design approach, which frequently resulted in seemingly outdated looks. We avoided this by creating a neutral layout with a clear and effortless navigation that laid the basis for a fashionable yet accessible design. After exploring different color options we established that a palette using different shades of grays, as well as a bright yellow tint to accentuate focal points on each page, would effectively match our initial aim. Industry-related, high-quality images were accurately selected to add eye-catchy elements to each page. An additional challenge consisted of arranging the booking form in an orderly and effortless manner. We opted to break it down into four steps, with each step being accessible only through a button that would appear upon the concluded filling of the fields required within the previous step. This process walks the user through the registration procedure and avoids excessive scrolling on the page.
